Analiza Filion, Ed.D.

Analiza Filion has been an educator for over 10 years, where the majority of her teaching career focused on sharing her knowledge and love of literature and writing with middle school students. Before joining the Diocese of San Jose, Analiza taught kindergarten and sixth grade for the Hawaii public school system. Analiza transitioned to the role of Vice Principal during the 2017-2018 school year and still spends time in the classroom as the eighth grade religion teacher.
Outside of St. Clare School, Analiza is a Doctoral Candidate in San Jose State University’s Educational Leadership program. Her dissertation study explores the educational experiences of adolescent refugee students within the U.S. school system and the use of documentary film as a traditional qualitative research method. Her other research interests include culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogies and trauma-informed teaching practices.
Prior to her work in the educational system, Analiza worked as a freelance editor; marketing/public relations representative; and fashion stylist. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Master of Arts in Education. Her hobbies include spending time with family, teaching her toddler hip-hop dancing, running with her dog Rico Boy, and working out with friends either at the gym or outdoors.
