Tuition

Tuition and fee structures, amounts, percentages, policies and/or requirements are reviewed annually and adjusted each year.

Saint Clare School relies on tuition and fees paid by its families for its operation. As such, we ask families to honor their financial commitments to the school, so that we can continue to provide students with an unparalleled Catholic education.

Tuition for the 2025/2026 School Year across all grades is

Enrollment/Re-Enrollment Installment

All new and returning families are assessed the Enrollment (new families) or Re-Enrollment (returning families) Installment, equal to the first installment amount, or 10% of the tuition rate per student. This installment is assessed the February prior to the following school year to allow the school to budget for staffing and to purchase textbooks, resources (apps), and supplies before the start of the school year. The Re-Enrollment Installment is not refundable.

The Re-Enrollment Installment and the following class-specific fees are included in the tuition rate:

• Classroom supplies and classroom activities expenses (including PTG/room rep activities)

• Field trip admission (transportation fees may be assessed); including sixth grade science camp

• Sacramental preparation and retreats

• Eighth grade expenses (yearbook, retreats, class sweatshirt, student dinner dance admission, graduation supplies including caps and gowns)

Optional Fees

Optional Fees cover student participation for optional events and programs such as student athletics, hot lunch, yearbook, certain electives, bus fees, social activities, camps, and others. These fees are assessed based on program cost and are collected from participating families throughout the school year.

Discounts

In order to receive discount(s) for the 2025-2026 school year, the family account must be current for the 2024-2025 school year with no outstanding tuition or fees as of the date the tuition agreement is created and executed. The account must remain current for the remainder of 2024-2025.

Saint Clare School reserves the right to amend the tuition agreement for the 2025-2026 in the event tuition or fees are outstanding as of May 31, 2025.

Catholic Discount

Saint Clare School is a mission of Saint Clare Parish and the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose. As such, Catholic families who actively participate in the faith life of a parish within the Diocese of San Jose may be eligible for a Catholic Tuition Discount.

Active participation means a family’s continuous involvement in the liturgical and ministerial life of the parish. This includes regularly participating in Sunday Mass and ministering and providing spiritual and financial stewardship that sustains the life of the parish by using the weekly Parish contribution envelope or online recurring donations via WeShare.

Baptismal certificates for students of families receiving the Catholic discount must be on file, but does not determine “Catholic status”, which is totally dependent on a family’s weekly practice of the faith.

IN ADDITION, the family is required to evidence at least two of the following:

• A letter from your pastor outlining your active and evident participation in parish ministries (e.g., music ministry, altar server, lector, usher, bible study, children’s Liturgy of the Word, various parish committees) or parish service groups (e.g., Knights of Columbus, Saint Vincent de Paul), through service or in-kind contributions.

• Annual Diocesan Appeal Contribution (by submitting a copy of the contribution statement with the signed Tuition Agreement)

• Parish offertory statement

Participation is reviewed on an annual basis and tuition rates will be adjusted for those who become ineligible.

The total Catholic discount for one student is $750 off of tuition. To see the discount for multiple students, please read below about sibling discounts.

Sibling Discount

Saint Clare School offers discounts to families who enroll multiple students at any grade level.

The total Non-Catholic Sibling discount is $500 off of tuition per student.

The total Catholic Sibling discount is $1,250 off of tuition per student.

Tuition Assistance

Saint Clare School recognizes that receiving a Catholic education is an important value for our families. Every year, we create an operating budget that is balanced and as fair as possible. We are aware that our support comes from our families and our community.

We also understand that the cost of a Catholic education is a substantial investment for many of our families. Some families cannot afford to pay the full cost of tuition and, for these families, we may be able to offer limited financial assistance.

Receiving Tuition Assistance

Any family wishing to receive financial assistance for Tuition or Cool Kids Zone must apply for it each year. To apply, you must complete the application forms, provide required financial documents (such as W-2 forms, tax returns for your entire household, etc), and pay a processing fee. Incomplete applications cannot be considered for financial assistance. Contact the school office at (408) 246-6797 or  stclare-office@dsj.org.

Every family interested in receiving assistance must complete the application process each year.
